Air quality in the United States is improving, but warnings persist

As reported CNNmajor cities across the United States have seen improved air quality after being engulfed in a dense layer of smoke orange last week

This event happened due to the wildfires in Canada last week, but the good news is that the fires have decreased significantly this week; and the area affected by smoke is now reduced to 7%.

Despite this progress, fire season in Canada is still in place and new events are expected over the summer. Several US states are still experiencing poor air quality.

The National Weather Service warns that smoke from wildfires in Canada continues to be carried south by winds, resulting in moderate to unhealthy air quality in parts of the United States.

It is important to note that the smoke from the fires forestry contains tiny particles, called PM2.5, which are considered pollutants. These particles, when inhaled, can penetrate deep into the lungs and enter the bloodstream, posing health risks.
