This Wednesday, Real Salt Lake and CF Montreal, two Major League Soccer (MLS) teams, announced on their social networks that footballer Aaron Herrera would leave the discipline of the Utah team and become part of the squad of the Canadian club.
The news was first published by Real Salt Lake, the team where Herrera played most of his football career, the club even dedicated a moving farewell video to him.

Subsequently, CF Montreal, the new team of Herrara, published the details of the operation on its website.
“CF Montreal acquired defender Aaron Herrera from Real Salt Lake for $350,000 in 2024 General Allocation Funds, $150,000 in 2024 General Allocation Funds, the club’s natural first-round pick (25th overall) in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft selection list and a 2023 international roster spot“.
The 25-year-old played 27 games for Real Salt Lake in 2022, started as a starter in 25, and handed out three assists.
Since signing his first professional contract in 2017 with Salt Lake, Herrera has appeared in 124 games and made playoff appearances in 2018, 2019 and 2021.
For Herrera, who is set to play with the Guatemalan national team in 2024 after completing his corresponding paperwork, Canada’s CF Montreal will be his second MLS team.
