The attack on Ciro Gómez Leyva could be linked to the rejection of the transformation: AMLO

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has not ruled out that the failed attack on journalist Ciro Gómez Leyva is linked to interests that oppose his political transformation project and seek to affect his image and hold him responsible in as a repressor.

During a press conference from the National Palace, the Federal President said that in order to guarantee justice in this case, he had ordered the government of Mexico City and the office of the Attorney General in the capital to carry out a thorough investigation in as far as is concerned.

“We don’t shut up anyone, we are respectful of human rights, and the main human right is the right to life, but it can be a case related to the transformation process that we are carrying out and that people don’t don’t like.

“For example, the fact that it’s a criminal group, there was talk that there was a report from Ciro 3, 4 days before that and that could be an answer. That’s good that groups contrary to us, in order to affect us, have taken an act with these characteristics”, mentioned the head of the Federal Executive.

This was due to the armor of the truck he was transported in which prevented him from being hit by the projectiles. Mexico City Citizen Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch said they would arrest those responsible and that the information chief had the support of authorities.

So far it is known that the hitmen fled to the State of Mexico, which is why they are wanted in this entity and in Puebla.

In this regard, López Obrador ruled out that an attack of this nature could affect his government, since people know that his administration is not in favor of buying the media.

“In this case, in this particular case, I would tell you that in addition to being despicable, it would not have the effect that possibly if this intention existed, it would not be to affect our government, because people know very well that we are respectful of life and we would not dare to do such a thing, or order such a thing to be done, it is a matter of beliefs,” he said.
