Bárbara Riveros becomes six-time Ironman 70.3 champion

The Chilean triathlete led practically the entire race in her category, finishing the circuit in 04:26:48. In the men’s category, Spaniard Antonio Benito López took first place with a time of 03:55:13

Chilean athlete Bárbara Riveros made history this Sunday in the Subaru IRONMAN 70.3 from Puconwinning her class and adding her sixth crown in ‘the most beautiful race in the world’.

The national triathlete completed the circuit at 04:26:48, beat argentina Romina Biagioli (04:39:45) already the american Brittany Higgins (04:45:56)who respectively reached second and third place in the race.

“I’m really happy, because I was able to offer this victory to everyone. I owe a lot to Pucón in my training, so thanks to those who continue to believe in me (…) now to continue working hard for the competitions to come”, underlined Bárbara Riveros after having repeated the first places obtained in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.

In the ladies category, the The Chilean triathletes Florencia Vásquez and Macarena Salazar, as well as the American Laura Mathews, among other competitors.

The male category

For men, meanwhile, the Spanish Antonio Benito Lopez won first place in Subaru IRONMAN 70.3 Puconimitating his compatriot Gomez Noyawinner of the previous edition, with a time of 03:55:13.

The 28-year-old athlete, recent champion of the Bilbao-Bizkaia Middle Distance Triathlonovertook the chilean Martin Ulloa (03:59:20) and American Mark Dubrick (04:00:00)who obtained second and third place respectively in the competition.

“Thank you to all the public who supported me every yard. The circuit around the peninsula was difficult, but that really makes the stage special (…) I feel good and happy to have won in this very special place,” he shared.
