Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard Casaubón detailed the agenda that the leaders of the United States, Mexico and Canada will follow next week within the framework of the X Summit of North American Leaders as well as bilateral meetings with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador with Joe Biden and Justin Trudeau.

In principle, on Monday, January 9, the President of the United States, Joe Biden, will arrive in Mexico City around 1:00 p.m. and is expected to arrive at the National Palace around 2:30 p.m.

On the spot, López Obrador and Biden will have a private conversation with their wives, then the bilateral meeting will begin with the participation of the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard; the Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López Hernández; Citizen Security and Protection Secretary Rosa Icela Rodríguez and Finance Secretary Rogelio Ramírez de la O.

In addition, the Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources, María Luisa Albores; the Secretary of Economy, Raquel Buenrostro; the Mexican Ambassador to the United States, Esteban Moctezuma, and the director of the National Institute of Migration, Francisco Garduño.

On behalf of the United States delegation, Secretary of State Antony Blinken; Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Ken Salazar.

After the meeting with Biden, the arrival at the federal executive headquarters of the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, and his wife are scheduled to participate in a dinner with the two leaders as part of the trilateral summit. It is expected that the activities for this day will end around 8:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, January 10, Biden and Trudeau will arrive at the National Palace at 11:30 a.m. where there will be a reception ceremony and a “family” photo. Then there will be a working lunch with the delegations of the three countries.

Ebrard estimated that the trilateral meeting will end around 3:00 p.m. and the leaders of the United States and Canada will leave the National Palace around 4:00 p.m. President Joe Biden will leave the country after the meeting ends.

Topics to be discussed by North American leaders will focus on diversity, equity and inclusion; climate change and the environment, the competitiveness of the region as well as development, health and security.

“President López Obrador marked for us, both for the bilateral meeting and for the summit, the emphasis on a new stage in the region, which can potentially be extended to the rest of the Americas on the basis of reciprocity, respect mutual and of a common vision that has the prosperity and well-being of North America and Latin America,” the federal official stressed.

On Wednesday January 11, President López Obrador will receive the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau around 10:30 a.m., after which there will be a greeting and a conversation between the Heads of State, and then they will deliver a message to the media. . Trudeau will leave the National Palace around 1 p.m.
