Benidorm Party 2023 | Sharonne will sing “Air”




The winner of the second edition of Drag Race Spain will bring a guaranteed spectacle. Sharon is one of 18 participants in the second edition of the Benidorm party, a festival that will take place on January 31, February 2 and 4. The drag queen will try for second time represent Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest. The Catalan contest in 2001 in Eurosongthe program where the Spanish representative in Copenhagenwith the group Trans-X. 21 years later he will try with “Air”an epic/danceable song with a very liberating message.

Sharonne, alter ego of Christopher Garrido, was born on June 1, 1976 in Sabadell. From an early age, he was interested in amateur theater where he took his first steps. Although he started studying administration, he decided to put it aside and throw himself completely into the world of interpretation and some Danceforming in the TRAM Expression School and in the CO&CO Schoolboth in Barcelona.

But… where does your stage name come from? As he commented to the microphones of national radio, his first partner carried him. He was of French nationality and these are his references in music, television and the world of cinema, from where they created this character who is characterized by his elegance and sophistication. The performer herself acknowledges that what sets her apart from the rest of her fellow drag queens is her singing, which defines her such a powerful and warm voice. “What is needed to sing is an ear, a certain sensitivity and a letting go”, explains the artist in the program court of voices.

That of Sabadelle was master of ceremonies of the show THE HOLE and participated in talent What Your face means nothing to me, marathon and in the Catalan series The heart of the city, among others. At the moment she is one of the protagonists of the tour Grand Hotel des Reines throughout Spain.

In the words of the artist, “Aire” tries to open up and break free, get some air and move forward. The musical proposal has epic connotations, since the theme tells how we live our lives, in a cinematic way. Where we are the protagonists and we have to decide at all times what we want and go for it.

Cristobal Garrido (Sharonne), Iván Torrent and Alejandro Barroso are the composers of “Air”the theme with which the winner of Drag Race Spain 2 will try to represent Spain at Eurovision 2023.

During the Benidorm Fest 2023 presentation gala, Sharonne dazzled on stage performing two songs such as “Last dance” by Donna Summer and “I want to dance with someone” by Whitney Houston. In the staging, the winner of Drag Race Spain 2 was accompanied by two dancers.

Sharon in European Song 2001

The Benidorm Fest will not be the first selection for Sharonne. In 2001, the artist presented himself with Trans-X to European Song 2001, where Spain’s representative for Copenhagen was chosen. The group which had several comings and goings was a project of Pascal Languirand and was born in the 80s in Canada and became popular for the song “Vivre en vidéo”.

Sharonne, next to her family Pascal, Kyra Yes Juan Carlos participated with the theme “To love us”, in the composition of which the drag queen herself took part. The group’s proposal was not a favorite since did not convince the public or the jury and they had to settle for twelfth place more than twenty participants. The winner David Civera performed at the Danish capital competition “Tell Him I Love Him”with which he reached the 6th position with 76 points.

Benidorm Festival 2023

It is expected and awaited by many. The second edition from Benidorm Festival 2023 will hold its semi-finals on January 31 and February 2, and its grand finale on February 4, 2023. Eighteen will be the artists who will participate in the Spanish preselection for Eurovision. Among the chosen ones, a diversity of genres, established and new promises, emerging names in indie music and artists widely followed on social networks.

Agoney, Alfred García, Alice Wonder, Aritz Arén, Blanca Paloma, E’femme, Famous, Fusa Nocta, José Otero, Karmento, Megara, Meler, Raky Ripper, Sharonne, Siderland, Sofía Martín, Twin Melody and Vicco. Only one of them can win the bronze microphone and the passport to travel to Liverpool and represent Spain on May 13. Who will succeed Chanel in Eurovision 2023?
