WestJet introduces Tokyo, Japan as its first Asian destination with new service to Narita International Airport.
As part of its broader growth strategy, the company announced summer 2023 787 Dreamliner routes from Calgary International Airport YYC, introducing Tokyo, Japan as its first destination in Asia with a new service to Narita International Airport.
The airline is also creating greater round-trip tourism opportunities and increasing connectivity between Western Canada and Europe with new service between Calgary and Barcelona, Spainnotto and Edinburgh, Scotland, as well as increased frequencies on existing European routes.
The announcement comes as WestJet prepares for broader expansion in Canada and North America in the coming months. Perfectly positioned to connect Western Canada to the rest of the world, the 787 WestJet from Calgary will see the airline fly to eight transoceanic destinations in 2024.
With 40 weekly departures strategically scheduled to maximize connecting capacity in 24 Western Canadian communities, the airline will offer more competitive service options to its business, leisure and cargo customers under its new strategic direction.

WestJet service between Calgary and Barcelona and Edinburgh will be offered seasonally from May to October, up to three times a week.
With its new routes, WestJet will offer service to six European cities, increasing capacity by 95% with flights to London Heathrow and Gatwick, Paris, Rome and Dublin.
