The alarms went off in the Canadian team last Saturday: Alphonso Davies was injured while playing at Bayern Munich and had to ask for a replacement. Two weeks before the start of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, the news raised serious concerns, but medical examinations were favorable to the left-back.
After 63 minutes against Hertha BSC, the 22-year-old took the ball out of the field, grabbed the back of his right thigh and sought medical attention. Referee Bastian Dankert, understanding the seriousness of what happened, demanded that the player be replaced quickly.
Although Davies managed to leave the pitch under his own power, it was clear that he was in a lot of pain in the affected area. A few hours later, the Canadian was transferred to a medical center for the respective tests and the results, to the peace of mind of the Canadian team, were positive.
As reported by Bayern Munich, Alphonso suffered a muscle fiber tear in the back of his right thigh, for which he will be out of action for a few days. In this sense, the “Bavarians” will not call up the team for the duels against Werder Bremen and Schalke, in the Bundesliga, on November 8 and 12 respectively.
In the same way, the German club indicated that the injury will not jeopardize the participation of the fast footballer in the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Recall that the Canadian team was placed in group F, alongside Belgium , Croatia and Morocco.
It should be noted that throughout the 2022-23 season, Alphonso Davies played 12 Bundesliga games (he registered an assist), a duel for DFB Pokal (he has a goal and a qualification) and five games of Champions League (he added a passing goal).
