Canada beat Venezuela in FIBA Fifth Window

Venezuela lost this Thursday by 38 points (94-56) against Canada, in a duel disputed at the Edmonton Expo Center, at the start of the fifth qualifying window for the 2023 World Cup, scheduled between the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia. .

After a long journey and arrival by taxi in extreme conditions, the national basketball team lost the first quarter by 15 points (25-10).

In the second set, the tricolor quintet managed to stay “stick to stick” to achieve a tie (21-21) and go to rest by the 15 aforementioned units.

Entering the second half, Venezuela couldn’t keep up with Canada’s physical pace or hits and ended up losing with a score of 24-11. Already in the last quarter with the game practically set, Venezuela again fell 24-14.

With this somewhat “weird” result, Canada maintained their perfect rhythm (9-0) and Venezuela added their second loss (7-2) in Group E.

Despite the heavy defeat, we must value the effort made by the staff, the players, Venezuelan Basketball Federation and even the Ministry of Sports for having done everything so that Venezuela could appear in the duel against Canada.

After a match to forget because of all the extra-sporting context due to the visa issue, Venezuela will now have to pull themselves together to face the Dominican Republic on equal terms on Sunday.
