Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, deploys the national armed forces to face the devastating passage of the storm Fiona along the east coast of the country. It particularly affects the provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
Houses washed away by the sea, floods and cut roads. The passage of post-tropical storm Fiona in eastern Canada is devastating; which has already left hundreds of thousands of people without power supply. Several of the affected areas have forced the evacuation of residents of homes near the coast.
Faced with this situation, the Prime Minister of the country made a point of launching a message during a press conference to reassure the population.
“I know this is an extremely difficult time for many people who have had their homes destroyed. But I also know that these people know they are not alone and that we will be there for them. We are there to provide the necessary resources, whether armed forces or specialized teams. We are responding to join the staff that the provinces already have to respond to situations like this. ยป
Authorities are overwhelmed in various parts of the country due to multiple electrical fires and flooding in residents’ homes. To alleviate the situation, the Prime Minister said the federal government would deploy the Canadian Armed Forces.
The Canadian Hurricane Center tweeted that Fiona had the lowest pressure ever recorded for a storm on Canadian land. Experts warn it could be one of the most powerful storms to hit the country.
