Gran Canaria, which has just lost the derby against Tenerife on its trail (70-86), is installed in the noble zone of the Endesa League classification. The yellows, with a record of four wins and two losses, occupy fifth place, just one win behind the three teams leading the pack (Bara, Tenerife and Real Madrid). The Obradoiro, with minimal income from the relegation places, wants to break the losing streak of the last matches.

Obradoiro and Gran Canaria have met 23 times in the Endesa league, with a favorable record for the island group, with fourteen wins and nine defeats. The Canarian side have lost in three of their last four trips to the Galician capital. Last season, in front of nearly five thousand supporters, Moncho Fernndez’s team beat their rival in a thrilling match (106-97). Although they finally went through some difficulties, the Compostelians signed an extraordinary first half. They managed to score 59 points, for the opponent’s 42. Thomas Scrubb was the big figure in the duel. The Canadian, in thirty and a half minutes of play, added 24 points (eight out of eight baskets, two out of three triples and two out of two free throws). In addition, he contributed to the victory of his team with six rebounds and two assists, for a value of 33 credits. Fellow Canadian Robertson also stood out, with 21 points (four of seven, three of five triples and four of seven free throws), along with two rebounds, six assists and a PIR of 20.

In the 2020-2021 academic year, Gran Canaria also succumbed in Sar: 89-88. A 32-19 series put Obradoiro on the road to victory, which was complicated in the last quarter with a 19-27 for the yellows. On this occasion, the great obradoirista artist was Steven Enoch. The American center of Connecticut, with a rating of 24 credits, scored a total of 23 points in nearly 30 minutes of play (six of eleven baskets and eleven of twelve free throws). He was king under the boards with eight bags. Three other players in Moncho Fernndez’s squad have surpassed double digits: Beliauskas (12), Ozmizrak (11) and Oliver (10).
