These actions take place after the federal government revealed that it is working in an plan for the benefit of half a million people without status.
In this context, the organization Workers Action Center in Toronto has launched a video of testimonies to raise awareness among the authorities and public opinion of the fact that not having status means not being able to access the same rights as the rest of the population.
In Toronto, the rally to demand the regularization of 1.7 million non-status immigrants will be held on Sunday, September 18 at 2 p.m. at Christie Pits Park.
In addition, a digital campaign has been launched asking to sign the petition and make phone calls in an effort to get the government’s attention and encourage them to create global change that gives rights to all migrant workers. , students, families and refugees.
In Canada, the last massive regularization program dates back 50 years, so this mobilization is considered a historic opportunity for everyone to obtain decent jobs, to get out of poverty, to access basic services, to assert their rights safely and to reunite with their families.
