“Enemy” opens the congress film cycle dedicated to José Saramago

The screenings will take place in the meeting room of the Marco

with the title Surrealism in Saramago’s Cinema the centenary of the Portuguese writer is celebrated in Vigo through the VII International Congress on the Philosophical and Sociopolitical Legacy of José Saramago. In its programming you can see three feature films, a documentary and seven short films, by several filmmakers of different nationalities, inspired by the work and life of the Portuguese Nobel laureate. From October 25 to November 19, at 7:30 p.m., these cinema screenings will be preceded by the presentation of various guest personalities from the field of cinema and culture who will comment on the works.

the cinema circuit Saramago’s surrealism in cinema is organized by Abella Productions and will take place in the Marco. This project is commissioned by the I José Saramago International Chair of the University of Vigo, through its Director and Director Burghard Baltrusch.

During the first session, today at 7:30 p.m., the film will be screened enemy2013, directed by the French-Canadian filmmaker Denis Villeneuve. A film adaptation of Saramago’s homonymous novel, the film offers the interpretation of well-known characters such as Jake Gyllenhaal, Melanie Laurent, Sarah Gadon and Isabella Rossellini. Talking about the movie will be Javier Trigalesscreenwriter and film critic, and audiovisual teacher in several schools, museums and cultural centers.
