The OAS decision, led by Harold Forsyth, was one of “solidarity and support for the democratically elected government (directed by Pedro Castillo), as well as the preservation of institutionality”.
He noted that “in accordance with article 4 of the Inter-American Democratic Charterany attempt to violate the constitutional order by any of the powers of the state is rejected”.
It also requests “an appeal to all actors to ensure that their actions are framed in respect for the rule of law, recognizing that Article 2 of the Inter-American Democratic Charter establishes that the effective exercise of representative democracy is the foundation of the OAS regimes”. ”.
