MEXICO CITY, October 15 (EL UNIVERSAL).- The Quebec dance company Cas Public, founded by the prestigious choreographer Hélène Blackburn 33 years ago, is one of the main events this Saturday, October 15 at the Festival Internacional Cervantino (FIC). Cas Public is a benchmark not only for contemporary dance, but also for performing arts for children.
“The Monsters”, a show directed by Blackburn herself, stands out not only for the company’s excellent body of dancers, but also for the lighting work of Lucie Bazzo and the electronic pieces of Dear Criminals, a Canadian group as well.
The appointment is October 15 at the Teatro Principal in Guanajuato, at 6:00 p.m.
symphonic rock
Talking about Café Tacvba in Latin America can be redundant. The prestige of the group has been forged since 1989, transforming it, today, into a benchmark of Mexican rock. Its presentation at 50 FIC, with the Symphony Orchestra of the University of Guanajuato, continues the same concert line that Cafeta offered in the Nezahualcóyotl hall of the Ciudad Universitaria cultural center.
An opportunity to listen to his most famous songs in a different way: “Eres”, “Aprovéchate”, “María”, “Quiero ver”, “Las flores” and “Las Batallas”, among many others.
It’s October 15 on the esplanade of the Alhóndiga de Granaditas in Guanajuato at 8:00 p.m.
Classical music
Korea’s most famous soprano, Sumi Jo, and one of the most commercially successful in the world (proof of this is the Grammy award she won in 1993 and her participation in events such as the World Cup or the Summer Olympics in Beijing).
At the Cervantino, Sumi Jo will present pieces by great composers from all eras and from all over the world: Antonio Vivaldi, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Manuel de Falla and María Grever, as well as Sergio Vázquez, an outstanding Mexican pianist.
The concert is on October 15, at 9:00 p.m., at the Teatro Juárez.

Based on the string quartets composed by Mario Lavista and a year after the composer’s death, the choreographers Melva Olivas, Víctor Manuel Ruiz, Raúl Tamez and Claudia Lavista, director of the project, have prepared a show that also uses videodance.
A work that is not only a tribute to one of the most important composers of recent decades, but also a reflection on death, duality and the cycles of life.
It’s on October 15 and 16, at 7 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Esperanza Iris City Theater (Donceles 36, Centro).
