President Alberto Fernández participated this Friday with the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, his counterpart of Transport, Alexis Guerrera, and Governor Omar Perotti, in the act of reactivating the rail service that connects Cañada de Gómez to Rosario after 45 years old.
“We came to the government with the decision to put Argentina back on its feet, and for that what we need is a fairer federal development. The train is needed throughout Argentina to end to the disintegration of the country and to unite us,” affirmed the Head of State who traveled by train from Correa station to Cañada de Gómez, where he also visited the Municipal Railway Museum.
“The train has made Argentina great and has allowed Argentinians and Argentinians to mobilize to achieve their goals. This is a community transportation service that, as a community that we are, we need to take care of. The train connects us, makes us equal, and these are two values that we must save in this time that we are living in, ”said the president.
In the meantime, Minister Guerrera affirmed that “the return of the train is possible with a political conviction, with a political decision and with an investment”, and recalled that Minister Massa of the Chamber of Deputies granted the budgetary tools to reactivation of the circuit. “When the opposition denied us the budget, the president’s DNU reconfirmed the rail investments,” he added, while emphasizing that “the train reconnects our people, expands possibilities again, equalizes again.” .
In turn, Governor Perotti thanked the President “for the decision to invest in the railroad and, in particular, in the province of Santa Fe”. During his speech, the president assured that “an antenna which opens, a region which progresses, and this is what pushes us to encourage these decisions”.
Finally, the mayor of Cañada de Gómez, Stella Clérici, thanked the national authorities for the investments and assured that it was “a historic day because the train has always been synonymous with progress, growth and opportunities”. “We’re going to keep fighting to keep things going for us and keep generating opportunities, equality and that this train that’s coming doesn’t stop,” he concluded.
The national government, through Argentine Trains Operations, intervened on 55 kilometers of track, readjusted level crossings, replaced sleepers and fixings, and made improvements to Cañada de Gómez and Roldán stations, in the purpose of returning the train after 45 years and thus benefit 2 thousand daily passengers.
