Harvey added: “I felt like the body I was in was not my body (it still is). I got home and found dozens of bruises on my body Some of my friends told me afterwards that they had to carry me when I was unconscious and that probably explains why.
The swimmer accompanied her text with pictures of bruises on her legs and said she had similar injuries on other parts of her body that she did not want to show.
“Unfortunately, these events are happening more than we realize. There has been a dangerous increase in recorded cases over the past few years, but it’s still not being talked about enough,” added Harvey, who also included news clippings of cases of women they drink from. have been adulterated with sedatives.
FINA said in a statement it would investigate the allegations and was “deeply concerned for the well-being” of Harvey.
The international federation added that it is in contact with both the Canadian swimming federation and the Budapest World Cup organizing committee.
For its part, the Canadian swimming federation said it had received information about the incident, which occurred in Budapest the day before the team’s return to Canada, and that Harvey had been treated by a doctor as soon as he became obvious that the swimmer had been drugged. .
