The results of Debanhi Escobar’s autopsy will be known on July 18

The Undersecretary for Public Security, Ricardo Mejía, informed that the result of the autopsy on the body of Debanhi Escobar will be announced next Monday, July 18.

He explained that this Friday, July 15, they will meet to share studies and criteria on the exhumation of the body of the young woman.

The previous days, Ricardo Mejia Berdeja he recalled that it was a supervising judge who had authorized the legal procedure of exhumation.

“On July 1 and 2, a team went to the Galeana ejido cemetery in Nuevo León to exhume Debanhi’s body. On the same day, work began at the facilities of the forensic center and the corresponding expert samples and pathological studies were taken,” he said.

According to Mejía Berdeja, once the forensic studies were completed, between July 13 and 15 it is expected that the conclusions of the opinions will be issued to determine the Debanhi’s cause of death.

In the weekly report on security and justice, the official said that the team in charge of exhumation and new studies is composed of the Nuevo Leon Attorney’s Officethe federal government’s Executive Commission for Victims (CEAV) and physicians specializing in CDMX Superior Court of Justice.

In addition, there was the participation of Institute of Forensic Sciencesa specialist UN Womenthe staff of the Security Secretary and of Governorate and the victim’s parents.

Debanhi’s body was found on April 21 in a hotel cistern, days after the girl disappeared.

Initially, authorities in Nuevo León said he died of a blow to the head. His family rejected the version. His father, Mario Escobar, commissioned another study, the results of which — filtered in the media — indicate that Debanhi was assassinated.

The exhumation and the new autopsy aim to clarify what happened.
