Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reopened the Canadian Embassy in Kyiv on Sunday, met with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyand visited the Ukrainian town of Irpin, on the outskirts of Kyiv, on a surprise trip.
During a press conference with Zelensky, Trudeau praised the Ukrainian president for his leadership and the courage of Ukrainians to defend their country.
“It was truly inspiring to see people step forward to defend their lives, their communities, their futures and their families in the country they love,” the Canadian president said, as reported by the Ukrainian presidency. in a press release.
Trudeau stressed that it is clear that Russian President Vladimir Putin is responsible for “heinous war crimes” and that Canada will support Ukraine in its quest for justice.
He also announced military aid in the form of additional drone cameras, satellite imagery, small arms and additional artillery shells for the M-777 howitzers that Canada has supplied to Ukraine.
The Prime Minister of Canada also said that there will be more aid for the abolition of customs duties on imports from Ukraine.
For his part, Zelensky celebrated that Canada will help rebuild Ukraine after the war and confirmed that negotiations are underway with the Canadian side to lift trade restrictions for Ukrainian exporters, which will greatly help our economy.
“The people of Ukraine and Canada stand side by side in the fight for freedom against the tyranny that Russia is trying to expand,” Zelensky said after the meeting with Justin Trudeau.
