The Canadian team will receive its counterpart from Panama next Sunday in a friendly duel which will be played at BC Place Stadium in the city of Vancouver, according to the Panamanian Soccer Federation (Fepafut) on Tuesday.
The game will serve as preparation for Canada, which is gearing up for the Qatar 2022 World Cup in November.
Likewise, for the Panamanians, it will take place after next Thursday’s duel against Costa Rica at the start of the Nations League.
It will also serve as preparation for the next engagements against Martinique, on June 9 and 12, also for the League of Nations, the statement from the Panamanian federation said.
The Panamanians’ last visit to Canadian soil dates back to October 2021 at BMO Field in Toronto, in the final qualifying round for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, in which they found themselves beaten 4-1 by the Canadians.
The Panamanians, who were unable to advance to the World Cup via the playoffs or directly, last faced Canada last March, earning a 1-0 victory.
Fepafut pointed out that the list of players selected for the friendly match against the Canadians will be revealed during this week, after next Thursday’s match against the Costa Rican team.
