UK announces sanctions against Russia’s ‘second richest man’ and Putin’s cousin
The UK government announced on Wednesday a new battery of sanctions against Russia including the “second richest man” in the country, Vladimir Potaninand an cousin of the Russian presidentVladimir Putin, as part of the punitive measures announced in response to the invasion of Ukraine.
The statement released by the UK executive says that Potanin is “owner of the Interros conglomerate” and adds that the man “continues to amass wealth supports Putin’s regimerepurchasing the shares of Rosbank and Tinkoff Bank from the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine“.
Also, he pointed out that Anna Tsivilevcousin of Putin and chairman of mining company JSC Kolmar Group, also punished. Tsivilev’s husband, Sergei Tsivilev, is governor of the Kemerkovo region. “The couple greatly benefited of his relationship with Putin”, denounced London.
“As long as Putin continues his heinous attack on Ukraine, we will use sanctions to weaken the Russian war machinesaid a British government spokesperson, adding that these latest sanctions “show that nothing and no one is on the tableincluding Putin’s inner circle.”
