Canadian Adam Hadwin tied for second, four shots behind Scottie Scheffler at Memorial

If Adam Hadwin is to win the second PGA Tour event of his career, the Canadian will have to make up a big gap on world number one Scottie Scheffler on Sunday.

Hadwin is tied for second with Collin Morikawa and Sepp Straka at the Memorial, four shots behind Scheffler heading into the final round of the PGA Tour's flagship event in Dublin, Ohio.

The golfer from Abbotsford, British Columbia, was three behind Scheffler heading into the third round, and he made it after Scheffler made a triple bogey on the par-4 ninth.

But Scheffler responded with three birdies on the back nine, while Hadwin made a costly double bogey on the 14th hole of the Jack Nicklaus-hosted tournament.

Scheffler is at 10 under after shooting a 1-under 71 on Saturday. Hadwin scored 71.

Even if Hadwin can't win, a second place finish would be huge in his bid for an Olympic berth.

Hadwin is ranked 59th in the world golf rankings, which places him third among Canadians behind Nick Taylor (30) and Corey Conners (45). The top two finishers after next week's US Open qualify for the Paris Games.
