Cuban participation in the Canadian Can-Am baseball league will be promoted
Havana, April 4 (RHC) Canadian officials will arrive in this city today to evaluate the participation of a Cuban baseball team in the independent Can-Am League and the possible hiring of athletes from the island.
The North American league delegation will be led by its vice-president and team leader of the Quebec Capitals, Michel Laplante, who will meet tomorrow and Thursday with the directors of the National Baseball Directorate and the Cuban Sports Institute .
The meeting will evaluate the participation for the second year of a Cuban baseball team in the Can-Am competition, which is played in cities in Canada and the United States, reported the digital publication Jit.
Likewise, the issue of hiring athletes will be addressed due to the interest shown by some teams in said league, as happened in the previous edition.
For its part, among the most innovative, the invitation of an under-18 team to a youth competition, based in the Canadian province of Quebec, stands out.
The two sides will hold a press conference on Friday at the Adolfo Luque Hall in the capital's Estadio Latinoamericano, where details will be hammered out.
The previous season, in addition to the national team which recorded 11 victories and nine defeats, several Cuban players played on the circuit teams.
For this season, the Can-Am League is scheduled to take place from May 18 to September 17, with the participation of invited international teams, which will be inserted from June 8 to 29.
