More than 500 Canadian athletes have begun arriving in Peru to participate in the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games, which open this Friday, July 26, reported the spokespersons of the said sports delegation.
Being the second largest delegation, after the United States, it historically occupies one of the top five places in the medal table.
Badminton, softball, rugby7, field hockey and table tennis are some of the sports in which he excelled the most.
Carlos Blondet, Air Canada station manager for Peru, Ecuador and Costa Rica, indicated that work is underway to ensure that the arrival of the Canadian team at Lima airport is a pleasant experience and that they feel at home.
The competition places Peru against the world
The most important sporting event on the American continent, which will be held for the first time in Peru, will see the participation of some 6,700 athletes in 39 sports and 61 disciplines, of which 22 will qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
As it happens, Toronto also hosted the Parapan American Games the same year, as did Peru. Such a meeting is scheduled from August 23 to September 1.
On these dates we will be spectators of stories full of fight and perseverance of each of the competitors, who will leave everything on the field, given that these games will also allow direct qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
