Authorities from Mexico, Canada and the United States will meet on July 6 and 7 in Cancun

Canadian Trade Minister Mary Ng; U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai; and Mexico’s Secretary of Economy, Raquel Buenrostro, will meet on July 6 and 7 in Cancun, at a time when several of the Latin American country’s policies questioned by the other two nations are at the center of controversy.

The meeting was announced in a statement from the office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), which indicated that the director of the agency, Katherine Tai, will travel to the tourist center of Cancun on July 6 and 7 to participate in the talks.

The governments of the United States and Canada have begun consultations within the framework of the North American trade agreement, USMCA, on the measures adopted by Mexican authorities regarding the use of transgenic corn. There are also differences in the areas of energy and mining.

Tai will hold a trilateral meeting with Mexican Secretary Raquel Buenrostro and Canadian Minister Mary Ng, with whom he will also have bilateral meetings, according to the USTR.
