Santiago de Chile, November 4 (EFE).- The Argentine team won the gold medal in men’s rugby sevens this Saturday, forcefully defeating Chile 24-5 in the final of the XIX Pan American Games.
Only “the Pumas” roared on the well-kept grass of the Pintana municipal stadium, for whom three strikes in just five minutes served, with their corresponding conversions, to dispel any emotion or doubt about the gold.
More involved in the game, agile in the movement of the oval, very energetic in penetration, they easily opened the defense of the “Cóndores” who seemed weighed down by the responsibility of playing at home against a superior rival.
The first half ended 19-0 and the second was a mere formality that at least allowed the home fans to celebrate a repeat against their eternal rival.
In the bronze medal match, Canada defeated the United States in a closely fought, power-to-power match that was decided by the greater efficiency of the Canadians in the conversion.
Both teams had three tries, but Lucas Lacamp failed to score the extra goal after teammate Lorenzo Thomas’ try.
With this result, Argentina revalidated the gold obtained at Lima 2019, while Canada fell one step from the podium compared to the games four years ago and left the United States out of the medals .
