ARGENTINA AND THE UNITED STATES TRIUMP IN THE THIRD DAY OF FENCING

The gold medal in women’s individual epee was won by Argentina’s Isabel Di Tella and the other gold medal, in men’s sabre, went to fencer Andrés Daddo of the United States.

With dynamism and strength, the fencers presented themselves to compete on the third day of fencing at the Paralympic Center of the Julio Martínez Prádanos National Stadium.

The first competition took place in the women’s individual epee between the Argentine Isabel Di Tella and the Peruvian María Luisa Doig, the winner being Isabel Di Tella, with a result of 15 to 9 touches and became the first South American winner of this modality.

These shooters have already faced each other in the final of the Asunción 2022 South American Games.

“It’s incredible, the organization, the volunteers and this whole experience. I dedicate my victory to my family, to my psychologist and to my team,” said Isabel Di Tella.

Di Tella is 30 years old and won a bronze medal at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games in the women’s epee event. He studies mathematics at Harvard University and at the 2018 Cochabamba South American Games he won a gold medal in individual epee and a silver medal in team epee. At the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games, she placed sixth in individual epee and eighth in team epee.

The silver medal went to the Peruvian María Luisa Doig and the bronze medals of the day went to the Chilean Analía Belén Fernández Canales, 25, and the Canadian Ruien Xiao, 15.

On the other hand, in the individual final of the men’s saber, the one who won the gold medal was the American Andrés Daddo with 15 to 8 over his opponent, the Venezuelan Eliécer José Romero Parra, who won the silver medal . The fight had great intensity due to the fury of giving the first attack to the opponent.

“I feel really good and relieved. I’ve been stressed all day but now that I’m done I’m going to take a long nap. And I dedicate this medal to New Jersey. I have been training there for a long time because I moved back to my parents,” said Daddo, a gold medalist.

The two bronze medals went to Canadians Fares Arfa and Shaul Gordón. The finals will continue in the coming days until Saturday, November 4 at the Paralympic Center at the National Stadium, which celebrates the 2023 Pan American and Parapan American Games.
