YesErgio Pérez is now ready for the Mexico Grand Prix. As tradition dictates, the Guadalajara driver will use a special helmet for his home race, which he selected this year from more than 2,500 options to try to achieve his best result at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez.

The winning design is the work of Karla Samantha Lozano Guzmán, recent graduate in digital art from Tec de Monterrey, who tried to capture the tricolor folklore and combine it with something characteristic of Checo: being an ideal helmet for the most anticipated sporting event of the year. .

“I really liked it, mainly because of the colors, because of the way it looked from a distance. But as we see it up close, because everything he says about our culture is what I liked,” admitted the Mexican during the press conference he gave in front of Plaza Carso and the Soumaya Museum.

Lozano Guzmán had the opportunity to spend time with the Red Bull Racing driver, and he explained how he got the inspiration to create the image and identity of this helmet.

“The first thing I did for this design was to dump everything I had in my head about Mexico, what I identify as Mexico: the customs, the traditions, certain states, the colors and even a little gastronomy… already when I had all that. images of what Mexico represents for me, I started serving to work”, began the Mexican, winner of the competition launched in April.

“During my last year of university, I took a Mexican crafts class. I was very clear that there would be alebrijes and that it would convey a lot with the symbols, because each represents a concept. I focused most of them to define Checo about speed, happiness, hard work and maximum power.

The activities of the Mexico Grand Prix begin on Friday with the first two free practice sessions, on Saturday there will be the final practice and qualifying sessions for the race, which will take place on Sunday at 2 p.m.
