Two Guadalajara firefighters turned out to be the brightest in the world, judging by the medals of Gold And Money which were brought from Winnipeg, Canadawhere they were detained, between July 28 and the August 6THE “World Police and Fire Games”better known as Police and Fire Olympics.
In this event, which takes place every two years, they competed, 55 sportsalmost 8,000 athletes who are part of the security corps and forces until 70 countries around the worldamong which the two members of the firefighters of Guadalajara stand out clearly.

Daniel Barcino, ‘barchi’climbed to the top step of the podium with the Gold. Has his 25 yearsthe last two of the Corps of the capital, it was the second time that he took part in these tests in Single ACTin which the effects of his earlier training were demonstrated.

This “golden” firefighter had to overcome in total 8 eventsperformed non-stop between 07:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in various Canadian sports facilities, such as “A 5,000 cross; an Olympic shot put, which is 7.25 kg; 100 speed on the athletics track; 100 freestyle, and already, in the gym, other tests of strength that start with the 6-meter rope, a bench press of maximum strength with a single repetition, dominated by 3 seconds of stoppage and, finally, another agility circuit called American track”Barchi pointed out.
For its part, Jorge Serrano, “Jorgito”returned with a no less brand new medal of Money around the neck, obtained during the test TCA by teams. For this firefighter 38 years old15 of which took place in Guadalajara, it is one of the many trophies that adorn his prize list.
“I’m very proud, because it’s like seeing the effort rewarded”he confessed, especially after participating in this test “since 2011, when I went to the first World Cup in New York; in Belfast, I made bronze; in China, silver; from Los Angeles, I have individual silver and team bronze; in Rotterdam I also had another bronze medal, and now this silver”.
As if this list of successes were short, we must add to it the Spanish Championship and the European.
And that’s it, for this veteran firefighter “The most difficult thing is not to be in the elite, but to stay there for so many years, as a friend told me”.
But, without a doubt, the greatest reward for these two heartfelt Madrid firefighters from Alcarria is having fulfilled their dream of working in what they consider to be the best job in the world.
“For me, it’s the best job in the world and I look forward to going to work every day”assured Daniel Barchino, while Jorge Serrano recalled how “from an early age, when I was 5 years old” He was very clear that it would be to become a firefighter.
“My uncle is a firefighter in the Community of Madrid and for me it has always been a dream”he declared, with the happiness of feeling that his dream has become, with a lot of effort and perseverance, a reality.
