Aston Martin defends Lance Stroll from critics over his comparison to Fernando Alonso

Aston Martin is living a dream season. Last year, the British team became the red lantern of Formula 1, and it is in Third place in the Constructors’ World Championship adding a total of six podiums.

However, in most cases it is Fernando Alonso the one who gets the most out of the car, which makes a huge difference with his teammate Spear Walk.

The Canadian has only edged the Asturian in two classifications and in a race, while if the classification is observed with half the season played, he has 102 points less than his partner and it adds no podium for Alonso’s six.

This caused criticism from many media outlets and fans regarding Stroll’s performance. The Canadian himself has admitted that Alonso is faster than him, but assures that the criticism does not affect him. And now Aston Martin has come to defend the “18”.

“Given the injuries that Lance suffered from his pre-season cycling accident and his difficult recovery, he played very well with a great teammate“, has explained Dan Fallowstechnical director of the British, on the team’s official website.

“Our team has had a very good season so far and both drivers drove Extremely good. At Fernando, Lance has a teammate who is a pilot exceptional who has demonstrated his ability since the start of the season,” he added.

Additionally, Fallows pointed out that the Brits and Asturians are very specific in their technical comments: “Both drivers are very fundamental to understand where the car is and how to improve it”.
