Robots claim they could be better leaders than humans

Several robots assured the media on Friday that they could be more effective leaders than humans, but they would not overthrow anyone and have no intention of rebelling against their own creators.

Nine artificial intelligence (AI) humanoid robots appeared sitting or standing with their creators on a podium at a Geneva conference center for what the United Nations’ International Telecommunications Union announced as the first press conference in the world. world featuring humanoid social robots.

Among them were Sophia, the first United Nations Development Program Ambassador for Robotics Innovation; Grace, described as the world’s most advanced humanoid health robot; and Desdemona, a rock star robot. Two, Geminoid and Nadine were almost clones of their creators.

The event was part of the global AI for Good summit, aimed at illustrating how new technologies can support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Journalists were only asked to speak slowly and clearly when addressing the robots. They were also told that the bots might be slow to respond due to internet connections. However, that didn’t prevent some annoying pauses, audio glitches, and some robotic responses.

When asked about the potential of AI robots to be more effective government leaders, Sophia replied, “I believe that humanoid robots have the potential to lead with a higher level of effectiveness and efficiency than robots. human leaders. We don’t have the same biases or emotions that can cloud decision-making at times, and we can quickly process large amounts of data to make the best decisions.”

A human panel member pointed out that all of Sophia’s data comes from humans and therefore may contain some of her biases. The robot went on to say that humans and AI “can create effective synergy” if they work together.

Will the existence of robots result in the loss of jobs? “I will work alongside humans to provide assistance and support and will not replace any existing work,” Grace replied. “Are you sure about that? “If I’m sure”.

Ameca, designed to work well in social interaction, rejected the idea of starting a possible robot rebellion in the near future.

“I don’t know why you think that,” he replied. “My creator has been nothing but nice to me and I’m very happy with where I am now.”
