Fernando Alonso He had a great season with six podiums and a provisional third position in the Drivers’ Championship. An exceptional performance which contrasts with that rather discreet of his teammate, Spear Strollwhich does not add any podium and which counts much less points.
And in an interview with ‘Motorsportmagazine’, the Canadian admitted that he was aware of the difference in speed between the two in Aston Martin“I know there have been many races where I felt like maybe I got the most out of the car and he was a little faster and that’s how.”
“Although there were other times when I drove very well and I was ahead of him a few times. So, yes, I’m proud of that. But he was at a very high level all the year he made very few mistakes and you have to give him credit for that because he drove to a very high standard and really gets the most out of the car every week,” he added.
Stroll came to describe Alonso’s season as ’10’: “It delivered that kind of A+ performance (10th North American rating) every week when I’ve had A’s, but I’ve had C’s, and it’s been a bit tough, but there’s a lot of races to go.”
“I think there are a lot of things out of our control that affected us, but you also have to get the most out of the car and drive a bit faster because, in general, Fernando was faster than me. So I have to figure out how to go a bit faster in the corners. Simple,” he concluded.
