Carlos Alcaraz remains number one in the ATP rankings and Alejandro Davidovich borders the “top 20”

Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz remains number one in the ATP rankings, despite his fall in the round of 16 of the Masters 1000 in Toronto (Canada), while Alejandro Davidovich climbs back to 23rd place, after reaching the semi-finals of the Canadian test.

The Murcian tennis player fell in the semi-final against Australian Alex de Minaur, but the added points make it climb fourteen places to number 23, one step from the “top 20”. It is the best finish of his career, and he is the second Spaniard on the circuit, only behind Alcaraz, who will have to defend many points in the next races to maintain the first position.

The winner of the Toronto tournament, the Italian Jannik Sinner, climbed to sixth place, achieving his all-time best position, while the Dane Holger Rune, despite losing in the second round, reached fifth place. The Australian De Minaur, finalist in Canada, is him also at the origin of an important rise by climbing to the twelfth place.

In the WTA ranking, there is no change in the “top 10”. However, the American Jessica Pegula, winner of the WTA 1000 in Montreal, consolidates the third position. While she is number 1, the Polish Iga Swiatek extends her lead over the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka.
