Possible rivals and crossovers of Carlos Alcaraz

The path of Carlos Alcaraz heading to the US Open, the last grand slam of the season, begins next Monday with the Masters 1000 Toronto. The Murcian will seek the title on the Canadian fast lane, where he will not be Novak Djokovic. The Serb has decided not to take part in the tournament and rest on the US Open.

Carlos Alcaraz arrives in Toronto after his incredible tour on grass, where he conquered Queen’s and Wimbledon, confirming that he is today the best tennis player in the world. With Djokovic out of the game, the Murcian’s main rivals at the Toronto Masters 1000 will be Danil Medvedev, Casper Ruud, Tsitsipas, Holger Rune, Rublev, Fritz and Jannik Sinner.

He Toronto Masters 1000 will take place from August 4 to 13, then the Cincinnati Masters will be played, right after. Alcaraz arrives world number 1, with 9,225 points, 430 ahead of Djokovic. Alcaraz will come out of Toronto with more of an advantage, only defending the 45 points he earned last year after losing on his second-round debut to American Tommy Paul.

Novak Djokovic will go to Cincinnati, a step before the new fight with Alcaraz at the US Open, a tournament in which the Murcian defends the crown won last year.

Daniel Medvedev, who lost in the semifinals of Wimbledon against Alcaraz, will be the second seed in Toronto and the main rival of the pupil of Juan Carlos Ferrero. Casper Ruud, Tsitsipas, Holger Rune, Rublev, Fritz and Jannik Sinner appear as Carlitos’ other possible rivals, waiting for the Masters 1000 Toronto final draw to take place.

The Moscow tennis player will cross to the other side of the surface, so he could only cross paths with Alcaraz in a hypothetical final. Although the final table and order of play are yet to be announced, Carlos Alcaraz will make his debut on Monday August 7th or Tuesday August 8th. What we do know is the schedule for the Toronto Masters 1,000 final: from Sunday 13 in the early morning to Monday 14 August at 01:30 (peninsular time).
