Spain went big again at the capital’s Palacio de los Deportes, like in the quarter-finals against Lithuania, to reach the grand final which will measure it this Sunday (9:00 p.m.) against the United States.
Bernat Canut’s team thus achieved the third final of the U19 women’s team in the World Cup, after those of 2009 and 2011, where they lost to the Americans, looking for the first title. Iyana Martín (24 points and a PIR of 22) and Awa Fam (17 points and 8 rebounds) were the best at the Palace.
Spain had to fight their way to the final against a Canada that wanted to break the barrier of the semi-finals for the first time. Those of Canut registered for the first set (26-22) but equality was maximum before the break. Toby Fournier and Delaney Gibb were the best Canadians, but on reboot it hit the hostess.
Part of 18-11 increased Spanish income enough to know how to suffer in the last quarter and unleash the euphoria of the WiZink public, with one more meeting this Sunday against the United States to mark history in a big way and at home.
