The broker is finalizing preparations for what will be its third World Police and Fire Games, to be held in the Canadian city of Winnipeg from July 28 to August 6.
Specifically, he will participate in the competitions that make up the road cycling modality.
But the path was not easy, because in the month of April, while the pumpkin cyclist was with his team playing the Master Cup of Spain, in the Asturian town of El Franco, he suffered a very spectacular fall during which he suffered multiple abrasions. plus a broken collarbone.
A fact that, after undergoing surgery, forced him to spend nine weeks without being able to train on the road, trying to compensate for these days with long walks and rollerblading sessions.
Javier is very excited, and despite the inconveniences of the fall he is in good shape and in the last few weeks with some competitions and intense training, he will try to reach the best possible level for the competition.
He specifies that “at the beginning of April I was on vacation to rest and later, when I had planned to start the specific preparation, I had a fall. However, the sensations are very good”.
“At no time did I rule out taking part in these games, in fact I signed up just the week after the accident when it was still uncertain whether or not I would have surgery.”
Regarding the schedule, Javier comments that on the 26th he will depart from Lisbon, and after making a stopover in Montreal, he will arrive in Winnipeg. On Saturday 29, it will begin with the Criterium event, on Sunday 30, the Sprint event and after a rest day, on August 1 and 2, it will end with the Individual Time Trial and the on road.
To his credit several gold, silver and bronze medals; achieved in previous World Cups in China, the Netherlands or the Europeans in Algeciras; but without a doubt this year it will be special to spend on the American continent, and he will try to compensate for the encouragement received from the sponsors, friends, colleagues and above all, from the members of his family who have supported him unconditionally.
