Pedro de la Rosa reveals the reason why Alonso didn’t pass Stroll in Austria

Spear Strollfinished in front Fernando Alonso in the sprint race Austrian GPbut the Spaniard clearly showed he had more speed even though he didn’t try to overtake his teammate.

This sparked a lot of rumours, with one claiming that the ’14’ couldn’t get past Stroll due to a clause in his contract. Pedro de la Rosaambassador of Aston Martin, denied this possibility in ‘DAZN’: “It’s absurdThe goal is to get the best for the team.”

And to continue his justification, the ex-driver revealed one of Fernando’s objectives this season: “Analyzing the situation, we realize that Fernando has an objective in mind and that is that the the team finishes second in the Constructors’ World Championship. And for that, not only he has to score, but also Stroll.”

The reality on the track is that the difference between the Asturian and the Canadian is abysmal. Alonso has 131 points and 6 podiums, while Stroll only has 44 points and has yet to reach the top. This difference between the two creates extra pressure on the ’18’, so Alonso doesn’t want to put too much pressure on him.

“Yes it’s true that It’s a bit like Stroll’s protective birdHe doesn’t want to get in trouble and doesn’t want to put pressure on him so that there is a touch between the two and it’s a zero for the team,” explained De la Rosa.

In addition, the relationship between the two is fantastic, something that did not happen at Alpine with Esteban Oconone more reason to respect each other on the track and not put more points at risk for the team.

And this mutual aid strategy benefits Aston Martin. The Brits are currently third in the Constructors’ World Cupbut only three points behind Mercedes, as they trail Ferrari by 21 points despite the Italians’ good weekend in the Austrian GP.
