Aston Martin surprised everyone at the start of the season by becoming the second-best team out of nowhere. And now at the Canadian Grand Prix they have brought a big upgrade pack not to be outdone. The most creditable part of it all was developing everything without a fixed seat, sharing a wind tunnel and working in portable barracks.
This is due to the ambitious new plan of Lawrence Promenade, owner of the team, with Aston Martin. The Canadian tycoon began construction at the end of 2022 of a new factory in silverstone Exclusive for the British team who have already completed their first phase.
Until now, the British worked partly in a former headquarters, partly in mobile barracks and the use of the wind tunnel was at Mercedes headquarters. As work continues on the rest of the buildings and the wind tunnel of the new factory, Dan Fallowstechnical director of Aston Martin, confirmed that they are already working in the new office.
“Our new technologies factory is almost finished. The technical offices are already finished, we moved in a few weeks ago and it was great. We’re finalizing the move to the new building and then there’s more to do.”
Fallows was keen to point out that being able to physically work in the same place is a great step forward for the team: “It’s incredibly exciting for the team because we were working on a combination of an old building and some portable barracks. Having everyone in the office, in the same room, is a huge step forward for us.”
The rest of the offices are in the home stretch of their construction, while the new wind tunnel will still have to wait until 2024. However, as Dan Fallows said, having the team working in the same location is already “a step forward” for the project.
