GP Canada. Alonso finishes fourth in free second led by Hamilton

The Spaniard set the fourth fastest time in the second free practice session on the Canadian circuit. Carlos Sainz set the third fastest time.

English Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), seven-time Formula 1 world champion, scored best timein front of his compatriot and teammate george russellin the second free practice – in the first it was barely filmed – for the Canadian Grand Prix, the eighth of the World Cup, which takes place on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Montreal.

In his best lap, Hamilton covered the 4,361 meters of the Montreal track on a soft tire – with which everyone has set their best laps. one minute, 13 seconds and 718 thousandths, only 27 less than Russell; in a session that the Spaniards carlos sainz (Ferrari) and Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) finished third and fourth fastest, respectively.

The Madrilenian finished 126 thousandths from Hamilton; of the one who stayed 326 the double Asturian world champion, third in the World Cup. In a session that – after security cameras went down prevented more than five minutes from being filmed at the premiere – lasted half an hour longer than expected; and it started, for this reason, 30 minutes before the scheduled time.

The Mexican Sergio Perez (Red Bull) finished eighth, half a second behind Hamilton and two places behind his team-mate, Dutchman Max Verstappen – who leads the World Cup with 170 points, 53 ahead of him; and with 71 on Alonso-, who was 424 thousandths off the time of the seven-time British world champion.
