A new episode of the series feedbackin which Devin Townsend records unique performances, the time will come August 4 with ‘Devolution #3 – Empath Live in America’, collecting recordings from the 2020 tour, which had to be interrupted due to the arrival of the pandemic.

In the words of the Canadian genius, “Continuing the ‘Devolution’ series of albums (which has been a way for us to release little curiosities alongside regular releases), we bring you ‘Devolution #3 – Empath Live In America’.

It was a once-in-a-lifetime tour for me, which was unfortunately cut short by the pandemic. It was a smaller version of the group Magnitude (no choir or other members…), but as I try to do on every tour, the goal was to make it a unique and special evening. Therefore, this tour was a “free” version of the material.

There were no backing tracks, not even a set list, so each night was unique and different. The audience shouted their demands and we let ourselves go. The material was interpreted in a unique way and the experience was a very special musical evening, in which we let ourselves go.

It’s a raw, offbeat performance, and I’m glad I documented it. Until the next ‘real’ release, I hope you enjoy this rarity of a special, albeit unfortunate, tour.”

“Always” was chosen as the first advance of this launch, the reservation of which is already available on this link.
