Marseille are the only French club to have won Europe’s top competition and on Friday supporters of the side from the southern port city set off fireworks to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the win over AC Milan.
Fourth place secures their ticket to the Europa League and Lille are close to securing that honor by beating Nantes 2-1 at home thanks to two penalties from Canadian striker Jonathan David.
Rennes remain one point behind Lille after a 2-0 home win against Monaco, which moved from fourth to sixth place. Fifth place goes to the Europa Conference League. Rennes and Monaco are level on points, but Rennes have a better goal difference.
Eight-time champions Nantes are close to relegation after drawing 1-1 with Auxerre, while Cup winners Toulouse are 16th and two points clear of Nantes. Four teams will be relegated this season.
