The Canadian government has announced the new “Verified Traveler” program which will speed up the security check-in process at major airports across the country.
To avoid the travel chaos that unleashed last summer, eligible air passengers will not be required to show their laptops, electronics and liquids from their carry-on baggage and will be able to pass through airport security without having to remove their shoes, belts and jackets.
The new program will be operational from June 21 and will replace the current Trusted Traveler program.
NEXUS and Global Entry cardholders will be eligible for the simplified security flow, as will serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces and members of the United States military, including reservists with valid ID.

Canadian aircrew, airport staff and uniformed international aircrew with valid identification will also be able to expedite security checks at airports, as will the RCMP and other police forces.
Canada’s new Verified Travelers Program will also allow children under 17 and Canadians over 75 to go through simplified security checks at airports with eligible passengers if they are part of the same booking.
The new express check service will be available at select airports across the country, including Toronto Pearson International Airport, Vancouver International Airport, Edmonton International Airport, Calgary International Airport, Winnipeg and Trudeau International Airport in Montreal.
