Borrell urges Cuba to strengthen its ties with the EU
The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, on Thursday urged Cuba to strengthen its ties with Brussels, within the framework of the consequences generated after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
“Our desire is to accompany Cuba in its process of opening economic and social reforms from a relationship of mutual respect to cooperate in improving the lives of all Cubans,” said Borrell, who recalled the holding of a dialogue on human rights which he hopes to take place “before the end of the year”.

The High Representative, who cited the global crisis caused by the war in Ukraine as a reason to improve relations with the European Union, acknowledged that “Cuba is facing the particular chaos of energy, electricity and fuels in a particularly difficult situation”. .
