Magic! : The Canadian group is back to bring joy to people

The group’s mission is to bring joy to people like when they rose to prominence with their single “Rude” in 2014.

A few days ago he was visiting Guadalajara, Nasri Atweh, lead singer of the Canadian group Magic!, who returns to the music scene after a long break taken by its members. The group’s mission is to bring joy to people like when they rose to prominence with their single “rude” in 2014. Currently, the lineup has released the singles “Ain’t got nothin’ figured”, “Inner love energy” and “Ballerina”.

But why did the group take several years to come back? Nasri replies, “When you’re in a band and you start at 30, you can’t help but be an adult with a family and responsibilities. And for all those things, we needed a break to reset our lives. I needed to come back to produce others” and his colleagues wanted to be soloists and he too had wanted to do it for a while, “we needed space and now we are back”, he says.

He also expresses that affection and friendship are very present. “When you’re in a band it’s like being in a family, and sometimes with your brothers you need space, we were always very close as friends, but we weren’t on the same page as musicians. When the pandemic was in place, the world was bad, it was in pain and sadness, so we decided to come back to bring joy to people.

The Music of Magic! started between reggae and pop With a catchy beat that got everyone dancing, that essence remains intact with positive messages that uplift the spirit. And it’s not that they live in eternal happiness, “we’re normal, we have good days and bad days. When we are together, we don’t think about ourselves, but about what people need, which is to love. So, we make music for the public, when we are soloists we make it for ourselves. As a group, we put our superpowers together to help others. The album’s mission and that Magic! is back, it gives people something nice.”

Regarding how they analyze this current musical moment, Nasri points out that the world of TikTok is very dangerous for a group like them. “We all like a little bit of everything and the problem with TikTok is that it’s too fast,” he uses as an analogy that when you see a movie, it hits you because you’ve seen it sold out, “and that’s like that’s a Magic song!, we want to listen to it completely because it’s going to get better, it’s like a wave that takes you all the way”.

So they believe their songs connect with people organically, “if it goes viral that’s great, if the music we wanted to make didn’t get made.” Magic! prepares more surprises so Nasri asks the public to be aware of the group’s next steps.
