Canada/Iran.- Canada issues its eleventh package of sanctions against Iran for its “continuous violations” of human rights – Spain

The Government of Canada announced on Wednesday a series of sanctions against Iran, the eleventh since October 2022, for its “continuous violations” of human rights, targeting nine people and one entity.

Between the new personas señaladas por el Canadian Gobierno hay miembros de la llamada Policía de la Moralidad, a la que responsabiliza de la muerte de la joven Mahsa Amini, detenida por supuestamente por llevar mal el velo, que desencadenó una ola de protestas en todo the country.

Among those sanctioned are a deputy commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, for suppressing protests in Sistan-Balochistan province that left dozens dead, and the board of directors of Paravar Pars, a “producer key” to drones that will be used in the “unjustifiable” Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Finally, they also included in this new battery of sanctions the prison of Rajaei Shahr, located on the outskirts of the city of Karaj, in northern Iran, and which would come to illustrate “the brutality of the regime” since among its walls, “a record number of state executions” were committed.

“Canada’s commitment to human rights is unwavering and we will always give a voice to those who need our support, including the women, men and children of Iran,” said Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Melanie Joly.

“We will continue to do everything in our power to respond to the Iranian regime’s destabilizing actions, which not only affect the Iranian people, but have implications for global peace and security,” he added.

The sanctions come on top of similar measures already announced by the European Union, the United Kingdom and the United States. With them, the assets of those indicated that they may have in any of these countries are frozen, while commercial relations, or of any kind, with these persons and entities are prohibited.
