Spain has increased its gas exports since the start of the war
Gas exports from Spain to other countries totaled 628.8 million euros for the first two months of the year, representing a 194.3% more than the same period last yearwhile the war in Ukraine had not yet started and amounted to 213.6 million euros.
This is evident from the data published in the Monthly Foreign Trade Report consulted by Servimedia, which reveal that this increase in sales has contributed to reducing the trade balance of this product by around 500 million euros, of which Spain is traditionally in deficit.
In these first two months of the year, almost half of the gas went to Italy, for a total amount of 299.1 million euros. Next come Germany, with 132.73 million; United States, with 80.6 million euros; Portugal, with 32.1 million; and the Netherlands, with 23.3 million.
Compared to last year, Italy is also the country that has increased its sales the most, with 294.2 million euros more, followed by Germany (+126.7 million), the Netherlands (+17.4 million) and Denmark (+13.57 million). In addition, gas was sold to new markets such as South Korea, Ireland or Senegal.
