This was done in 2021 when there were still restrictions and confinements due to the coronavirus pandemic, which is why Quijada wanted to have almost entirely only Colombians in the crew. With his experience, he was pleasantly surprised by the talent and dedication of professionals in this country.
“Colombia could be the Mecca of Latin American cinema in the next ten years. There is a growth that I have seen deep, gradual and beautiful. The new artists that are developing, the new schools, the university programs, the dynamism of its inhabitants. Everything seems to be well underway. This is one of the main reasons why me and my partners have come and will stay here”, mentioned the director who worked with the production companies Apollo Pictures, Sivela Pictures, 64A Films and FirstGen Entertainment for this project.
Quijada pointed out that one of the aspects that attracts the most are the tax incentives that the country has for audiovisual production: “The support that there has been so far is enormous and I hope it will continue with this new government. It seems so, because they have contributed a lot to the art, which means we are in the right direction. This confirms my thought of Colombia as the country of the future of Latin American cinema”.
The Canadian plans to shoot two other feature films in Colombia in the near future, one of which will be called behind the shadow. “It’s with my team that I’m building here with only Colombians. I don’t want to bring anyone from outside,” he stressed.
