DE MÉXICO.- The Ministry of Tourism of the Government of Mexico and the Ministry of Tourism of Baja California Sur have announced the second edition of the Mar a Mar race, which will take place from December 1 to 3, 2023; international event that will explode the tourist activity and the economic benefit of the entity.

Sectur announced that the Mar a Mar race will start from Los Barriles, in the municipality of La Paz and will end in the beautiful and magical town of Todos Santos, whose beaches are washed by the imposing Pacific Ocean.

He explained that this demanding competition of 110 kilometers crosses a generous and exuberant nature, which offers unique postcards: beach, desert, semi-desert, forest of pines and oaks, and a spectacular celestial vault for the pleasure of the athletes who will camp halfway. . . I mean, quite an experience.

In addition, the Mar a Mar race contributes to the promotion of the Baja California Sur destination, since it will be broadcast on various digital platforms and the specialized sports channel ESPN, as well as on traditional television and the news, allowing potential tourists to be reached in America and Europe. .

Tourisme specified that it has made it its mission to promote the diversification of the tourist offer with quality products that encourage tourists to return and recommend our destinations; but also committed to sustainable tourism that preserves our natural environment.

Baja California Sur has established itself as a “hotbed” of tourist attraction, with destinations such as La Paz, Cabo San Lucas and Los Cabos, the latter being the second city in the country with the most tourists from of the United States and the third with the greatest number of Canadian tourists.

Likewise, 25 of its beaches, in this 2022-2023 season, have obtained Blue Flag certification, a distinction coordinated by Sector and awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education, to beaches that have achieved excellence in management and management of the environment, water quality. , as well as security and services.

The port of Cabo San Lucas is the third in the country, both for the arrival of cruise ships and passengers by this route. It also ranks fourth among the cities with the highest hotel occupancy rate in the country. In this same district, La Paz ranks ninth.

Baja California Sur is part of a strategic alliance in northwestern Mexico called Mar de Cortés, which also includes the states of Sinaloa, Sonora, Nayarit and Baja California, which seeks to boost the region’s economy through to nautical tourism.

“The World Aquarium, named after the famous oceanographer Jacques Cousteau, will be the setting for cruises to the various points of interest on the coasts and islands of these federating entities. In this project, Sector will support with technical advice the innovation and integration of specialized routes in coordination with the national tourism secretariats.
