Andrés Manuel López Obrador: “Yesterday I was with businessmen from Canada who had disagreements, now that Prime Minister Trudeau has come he has asked me if we are going to take care of it, and personally with the cabinet economic, we attended four Canadian companies and we solved the four problems without any obstacle which had to do with problems in the electricity sector, and we did it with American companies.
The statement was made by the President during his press conference today, Thursday, January 19, at the National Palace.
He expressed his appreciation for the meetings during which he was accompanied by certain secretaries of state: “We are always looking for conciliation. I told Canadians that there are 125 Canadian companies and that we only have problems in two of them, and they are also right, that they are extorted in Guerrero by groups that are dedicated to crime, with which we are already dealing. But only two.”
According to journalistic information that circulated after the information disseminated by the president, since he did not reveal the names of the companies in question, one of them could have belonged to the investment fund ‘Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec‘, an entity that almost six years ago bought 80% of a portfolio of eight projects between wind and photovoltaic belonging to the Italian renewable energy group Enel. In this purchase, the Canadian firm was accompanied by Mexican investors.
