IFC Films presents the official trailer for ‘blackberry‘, a film co-written and directed by Matt Johnson about the extraordinary rise and spectacular fall of the legendary smartphone that changed the way many people work and communicate.

Two entrepreneurs, innovator Mike Lazaridis (Jay Baruchel) and ruthless businessman Jim Balsillie (Glenn Howerton), joined forces in a venture that would become a worldwide success in just over a decade. The device one invented and the other sold, the BlackBerry, was an addictive mobile phone that changed the way the world worked, played and communicated.

But just as BlackBerry soared to new heights, it also began to lose itself in the fog of smartphone wars, executive indecision and outside distractions, ultimately bankrupting one of the world’s most successful companies. technology and business.

Based on Jacquie McNish’s book ‘Losing the Signal: The Untold Story Behind the Extraordinary Rise and Spectacular Fall of BlackBerry’, ‘blackberry‘ is the story of two Canadians who, between night and movie night, invented the tool that, for better or for worse, changed the way we do almost everything.

Cary Elwes, Saul Rubinek, Martin Donovan and Matt Johnson himself round out the main cast of this film, which hits theaters in the United States and Canada on May 12. As for those in Spain, they will be made by Diamonds Films at a date yet to be determined.
